Wakefield Park: Speed Off the Streets - POSTPONED DUE TO WAKEFIELD'S COCK UP

Recommended Posts

** UPDATE **

Wakefield & NSW Sports Sedan decided to double book the 23rd of August. This means that the track will be shared with Speed off the Streets & also NSW Sports Sedan competition.

I've also asked how many cars are on the day and if we are able to get some form of discount for their cock up.. this is their bullshit response:

"It is hard to say it could reach up to maybe 100 cars.

Sessions will depend on how many turn up.

Sessions could be cut down to 10 - 15 mins but you may not get this every hour we could end up with 3 steet car sessions / race cars and open wheelers.

After lunch we will be having some qualifying and racing as well.

You will get track time as we never turn anyone away it just maybe limited a bit.

Hope to see you here."

GO EAT A DICK

Hey Guys,

Since there has been talk loosely about a track day or similar I thought I would just bang it into a thread. KillerFlop, myself and some of the trak-life.com followers are planning to hit up Wakefield Park just for a friendly day out on the track.. it's more to test our cars out as we all have done some recent modifications.

The event we are going to is a public event, so it's first in first serve basis once the gates open.

If you come early enough, you'll be able to score an undercover area for your tools/shit/food/shade.

We usually try to get to gates at 7:30AM - so sleeping in town is usually a good option.

Track: Wakefield Park - NSW

Event: Speed Off the Streets

Date: Saturday, 23/08/2014

Cost: $160 + ASAA License ($50 valid for 1 year and can be used at other tracks)

Info: http://www.wakefield...off-the-streets OR http://www.wakefield...tail?event=1222

These events are not timed, however you can download pretty nifty timers on Android such as Race Chrono OR for crApple users Harry's Lap Timed

UPDATE:

  • MEETING at United Petrol Station in Minto
  • 7AM for a 7:15AM departure
  • 1h 45min drive to Wakefield Park (depending on traffic might be quicker)
  • ETA Arrival time is 9AM

this sounds like a good way to test my T28 and MCA blues.

yeah man for sure, great way to give your car a shake down before you go to a proper race meet/race warz :)

I'm aiming to get 1m13s on non adjustable suspension, i.e. shocks & spring combo only.

usually the speed of the street events are pretty quiet.. and most people end up leaving by 2pm meaning you get the whole track to yourself!

I thought about organising a private track day, but it's the commitment from people which becomes the hardest part.

as with anything.

the more people you add, the less likely it becomes itll go ahead.

of course man, I'm not a pro either, not even intermediate either.. most of the turns I exit sideways (always get great times too) lol... KillerFlop on the other hand is the one that takes it seriously. .I just go to have fun.

I'm up for this. Bit of a mission to get there but whatever. I certainly won't be smashing any track records with my stock turbo and bridgestone potenza shocks (apparently they exist) but my aim is basically to just beat on my car a bit WITHOUT worrying about the fuzz and have some mad fun.

The SoS days are heaps cruisey, I kinda prefer them over the organised days as you can go at your own pace and for as long you want (or how long your car lasts lol).

Not to mention when you get a decent bunch together we can all go out in one go

From the 2 times I've been there were probably only about 5 cars on the track which you end up lapping continuously :)

Been itching to go, probably go to one before August 23rd too...

It's two hours from pretty much anywhere in Sydney.

And rip skids (not too many) out of the last turn :)

If you go a little too sideways on purpose they will kick you off haha..

Oversteering not on purpose is ok :)

I would love to come to this but my clutch is not up to the task. I am afraid to go to WSID cause i think the clutch would die.

Can't Afford one right now :(

Intima SR pads would be perfect for a daily with some track work

Project MU HC+ good for a street registered track slart

Just take it easy and have more frequent cooldown laps :)

And don't punish the brakes into turn 2, the fish hook, and the last corner.

Intermittent drivers window is now f**ked, blergh. Anyone know if that stops me getting on the track? My CBF factor is so high

Windows up, if possible. Not a rule of theirs as such.

As above, you'll be in there a week cleaning all the grass and shit out your car if you have an off-track excursion.
