i have a 92 prelude, and it has an h23 engine non vtec.
i have exhaust and air intake in it and thats all. what can i add to make it go faster. i dont wana add vtec or turbo cause it will cost as much as buying a car thats already vtec or turbo, and nitros is illegal in victoria where i live,so what other options do i have. anything that will make it go smoother or give more power plz tell.

there are a few main things, you can strip the interior of sound deadening, weight loss will pay a huge part. lightweight rims and/or a carbon fibre bonnet can also do a good job.
you can do work on the engine ie new cam shafts adjustable cam gears forged pistons improved head gasket etc.
as far as handling goes you can upgrade the suspension for faster cornering (coilovers, or just harder lower springs, strut bars, sway bars etc)
if you wanna be.
the prelude is FWD you could always just get another engine in it like a civic or integra type R and then once you sell your engine gearbox etc it will help pay that off.
since your in vic i know theres a place there that sells hondata computer chips which arent hugely expensive and thatll really help your car go harder.
i dont know how much you've done to the exhaust but if youve just done a cat back then a hi-flow catalytic converter and after market header will also give you improved response. if you wanna goillegally i saw a 200sx in fast 4's which had no catalytic converter or mufflers lol
with the CAI intake as well make sure the piping for it is stainlss steel or some other kind of metal and consider running a tube up from an opening in the front bumper to the pod filter to get better airflow. if there arent any good holes in the bumper, i cant really remember what the bumper looks like in detail, an aftermarket one will have gaps to help out with air flow. a vented bonnet if you cant afford carbon fibre will also help cool the engine bay.
i used to own an integra and i wanted to do a huge project of it until it got written off so keep in touch i'm interested to see how this goes!

appreciated. ill definately do the things u mentioned.
My car was lowerd and i put new suspension it to bring it up but i just realised it has gotten bit slower since i done that. ill pay attention to things u said and try to do it all. i only know a tiny bit about cars so that was helpful.
and where is this place that sells computer chips in melbourne. will they do any good in my current engine or id have to put a new engine like vtec or something to use the computer chips. thnx

and i can tell you know that after doing exhaust touchups, a computer tuned and some headwork that will spill over what it would cost to do a full H22a conversion on the car.
This is the motor of choice for this car and produces huge amounts of tourque and i have seen near stock ones make 145KW ATW which is more than some turbo cars make stock.
overall you will have a quicker faster and more reliable package then trying to flog a dead horse with your current motor when Honda did all the hard work for you but making a far better platform.
you can just get a hondata S100 they are about $350 and get it tuned but after the tuning cost and ecu say 700-800 all up you can pick up a H22A halfcut for $2000-2500 and then have bigger brake master bigger brakes better motor and LSD gearbox.
evne after you get a tune on your motor will will probally only see 90-100KW dollar for dollar either convert it or sell it and buy one
dont mean to be blunt but i think in reality this option is more reliable, and will keep your smiling more

this is terrible advice, the civic and Integra engines are 1.6 and 1.8 litre engines (VTEC and non VTEC). You currently have a 2.3 litre non VTEC, if your gonna change the engine to ANYTHING get a h22a from a VTiR prelude, which is a 2.2 litre VTEC. They produce about 110-115kw at the front wheels with a cold air intake and 2.25" catback exhaust
