Hey Guys,
Im considering getting an EG civic but am not up to scratch on the specs. Can anyone link me to reviews on the EG with specs?(Specs such as opinions on the car, what equipment they came with etc) I can find reviews on eg's in america, but im under the impression that they have different specs so its of no use to me.

I'm looking at a 1994 eg3 with a d13 engine at the moment. What are your opinions on this model? I intend on using the car as a daily driver, with plans for light mods. (I'd love to get a b16/18 conversion, but they seem excessively expensive). My previous vehicles have been a modified S13 with SR20DET and a modified sports bike, now im seeking something cheaper, that can be economically insured. Am i kidding my self with false economics? (as i see it, its cheap on fuel, should be cheap to maintain, is sedate so i wont be scared parking it at train stations).

maybe some of you could tell your stories on your experiences, or why you chose your Eg's? I'm mostly concerned about reliability (how long do the engines last??), build quality and costs.

Cheers,
Emil

Reliability is 2nd to none, my civic has done 240,000kms and it cops 7,000rpm everyday almost (never cold).
Thats a si eg5 with a d16a8, got plenty of zippiness for a daily. It has electric mirrors and windows, which im pretty sure the eg3 doesnt have. If I was you I'd go an Si or VTI for a daily, 1.3L carby engine stretching the friendship.

I can give you all the specs on the VTI an Si civics if you wont.

i had an original eg with a 1.3l carby job and it had over 400,000kms on it when i got rid of it, never had a drama with it (to be honest i didnt exactly drive it easy) and it started every day no worries!!! but they are really slow.. ive just got a 1994 model, its a d15 (1.5l injected) theyre alot more responsive than the carbys but i had a mate with the 1.5 double craby and it was ok...
theyre good as a daily driver but i just still found the 1.3 too slow!!

my daily is a 95 vti. 230kkms is extremely slow and boring to drive (auto) only problem i have had was a leaky sump gasket and the dizzy died...
Dizzys for these are expensive.. well the ones i priced anyways. 1000 new from honda, 550 aftermarket and 150 second hand

i got a 94 vti sedan, manual, compared to other cars in its field it is pretty good, can keep up with non-vtec integras aswell... sounds great, i got a nice SRI and proper exhaust, very reliable car, so effing fuel efficient to, before i started modding it (bought it dead stock) my mum drove it for the first year or so and she used to get nearly 550-600 k's to a 44litre tank... i get aronud 400-450 :P

if u can get past the evil mods go have a look on ozhonda, im perma bann from there so i can't share any links with you but once upon a time they where a very useful crew :P

oops just realised i bumped the worlds oldest thread sorry lol
Extremely reliable.

Cheap to run.

Most Hondas come with power options, so they are a fairly good comfortable run about.

Can't go wrong IMO.

Get a Daewoo lanos, we've had one in the family with 450 000 Kms on it and still going strong!
