dc5r - looks nicer, better interior, lost the "type-r spirit"
dc2r - goes harder, lighter, "type-r" actually means something with this car

if you wanna know which one is better, go and test drive them!!! find out for yourself, as you will have different tastes and preferences to most people

ozhonda should be fine for these questions, it sucks that ns is a fkn honda forum now too

It's all down to personal peferences. They are both very similar cars. Just dc2r is more track bred than dc5r. Either way, we get the detuned version of both itrs so neither is the real deal.

Engine wise = k20 dc5r
Handling body wise = dc2r

i own a dc2r and i can say for eg. mountain driving the dc2r is way more stable and predictable then dc5r as i've got a couple friends wif dc5's.
But in straight line speed dc5 takes it after 100k's

well u would think so ....

b18c - dc2 1.8L vtec < k20 - dc5 2.0L vtec

Combine the best out of both integras ..

The Power and torque of the K20a Matched with
the factory 6 speed box ,

In a Light weight chassis which has the more sophisticated,
Double wishbone suspension.

DC2R (or even a EG Civic) + K20a transplant > All

Though 1/2 cuts or packages arn't cheap or easy to come by in Aus.

I prefer DC2R. Like what willski said, they gave a more raw feeling to the driver. Unlike DC5 which had a couple of creature comfort of today's technology. Close a DC2R door and you will know what I mean. They are hell light!

The DC5 does look way better, well in those above pictures. My mate has a yellow DC2 he doesn't really drive the car the way it wants to be but im still jealous. lol

DC5R is the bigger compromise, it's basically a USDM Acura RSX Type S with LSD and Recaros and a couple minor things.

DC2R is same as JDM '96 spec but with UK spec engine (141kw B18C7 vs 147kw B18C), '98 twin headlight front, tail lights and rear bar.

I've got a dc5 so I have to say they're better. Newer and roomier and they look way nicer but quite slow; it is a honda after all!!

I've driven a dc2 type r and it was wicked to drive for a fwd na car and i've also driven a new dc5 type s because i was considering buying one and was so dissapointed, i know it's not a dc5 type r but the type s is meant to be a better car?

DC2 is better for race spec thus more fun!

but nothing compared to a turbo rwd!!

^ yeah the DC5 type R has the K20A2 (147kW@7400RPM, 192Nm@6000RPM)

where as the Type S has a K20Z1 (154kW@7800RPM, 194Nm@7000RPM)

The Type S is roughly 100kg's heavier too.

Tough choice though. Both the DC5's and DC2's are great cars.

Sadly it's closer mechanically to the US market Acura RSX Type S

Come on i have a dc5 type R. the dc5 has more tunning potential, there faster, look better, you can gain more power when slapping on exhaust systems and air intakes its a 2ltr with more advanced technology how can you say the dc2r is better?
